Students are strongly encouraged to have health insurance coverage. If you are not covered by your family health insurance plan and you want coverage, FAU sponsors an accident and sickness policy for domestic and international students. For more information see our Insurance information or see the insurance representative in the Student Services Building (8), Room 222L, on Thursdays between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
All international students must provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage in order to register for classes. For more information, go to our International Student information page.
Health Insurance Billing
FAU Student Health Services will bill insurance plans with in-network or out-of-network benefits. At the present time, we are in-network with the following plans:
For other plans not listed above, the claim will be processed as out-of-network.
Currently, our dental services do not accept dental insurance.
How to use insurance at SHS
Contact your insurance company to understand what services are covered and find out if PRE-AUTHORIZATION is needed. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT/PATIENT TO OBTAIN PRE-AUTHORIZATION. The Insurance Billing Department will verify coverage with the carrier before filing claims for services provided at Student Health Services. Deductibles, co-insurance and non-covered services will be charged to your FAU student account.
