Costs & Insurance

All registered FAU students paying the tuition-included student health fee are eligible for services at Student Health Services (SHS) clinics. SHS provides care at many levels, and charges vary depending on the services provided.

Self-Pay Patients: Insurance is not required to access SHS services. All charges incurred during a self-pay patient’s office visit will have a discount applied to the overall total and then be billed to the student’s university account.

Patients who have health insurance with companies not accepted by FAU Student Health Services can request a copy of their receipt to submit to their health insurance company for possible reimbursement, depending on their plan benefits.

Insured Patients: SHS now accepts the following health insurance plans:

  • Aetna
  • Florida Blue
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare

All charges incurred during the patient’s office visit will be billed to the insurance coverage provided at the time of check-in for the patient’s appointment. Any remaining balance owed by the patient after it has been processed through their insurance coverage, will then have a discount applied to the overall total and then be billed to the student’s university account.
