The Student Health Insurance Program is available to students taking five or more credit hours who have paid their health fee and are eligible for medical care at the Student Health Center. Home study, correspondence, Internet classes (less than 9 credits) and television (TV) courses do not fulfill the Eligibility requirements that the student actively attend classes. The Company maintains its right to investigate student status and attendance records to verify that the policy Eligibility requirements have been met. If the Company discovers the Eligibility requirements have not been met, its only obligation is to refund premium.
Eligible Students who do enroll may also insure their Dependents. Eligible Dependents are the spouse and their children under 25 years of age who are not self-supporting; who live with the Insured or who are a full-time or part-time student. Dependent Eligibility expires concurrently with that of the Insured student. Eligible dependents who enroll have the same benefits as the full-time student except that they cannot receive medical services from Student Health Services.
Optional coverages may only be purchased simultaneously and in conjunction with the purchase of Basic coverage at the time of initial enrollment. Only those students enrolled in Basic coverage may purchase Optional Intercollegiate Sports coverage.
