National Communication Association |SCMS Graduate Student Conference
November 21-24, 2013. Chandra Maldonado presented her essay, A Hero Awaits: A Response to Samantha Senda-Cook’s Fahrenheit 9/11's Purpose-Driven Agents: A Multipentadic Approach to Political Entertainment during the Rhetoric of Film paper session at the 2013 National Communication Association Convention. The convention was held in Washington, D.C. November 21-24, 2013.

Florida Communication Association Convention | SCMS Graduate Student Conference
Oct. 17-19, 2013. Temiela Blackman, Cynthia Carrico and Kerli Kirch presented their work at the 2013 Florida Communication Association Convention. Temiela presented her essay Scandalous Depictions: A Screen Culture Analysis of Race, Gender and Sexuality in the Prime Time Series Scandal. Cynthia presented her essay, Playing with Power in Media Messages: Transmedia Storytelling. Kerli presented her essay, Convergence Culture and Endangered Languages.The convention was held in Orlando, Florida October 17-19, 2013.

BUSCA VIDA | DANIEL CARDENAS DOCUMENTARY FILM
Multimedia Studies major Daniel Cardenas's neorealist film, BUSCA VIDA, shot on location in a Dominican Republic slum, was accepted to the 11th Annual Iowa City International Documentary Film Festival. Daniel will be one of the few undergraduate students in the festival. His work will screen at the historic Bijou Theater on April 11-13, 2013.
