FILM AND MEDIA STUDIES
This concentration features courses analyzing the power and responsibility of American and international film, television, print media, and/or new technologies from formal, historical, economic, institutional, and ideological perspectives. Faculty are committed to understanding media forms and their respective texts in relation to the world they represent; courses consider not only the meanings of these texts but the processes of their construction, circulation, and theorization. The goal is to help students apply their knowledge to the study, engagement, and/or creation of media in academic careers and/or those involving film/video-making, broadcasting, journalism/publishing, and related pursuits.
