Patricia St. E. Darlington teaches courses in intercultural communication, ethnicity and communication, minorities and the media, and leadership and communication. She is also a Faculty Associate for both Ethnic Studies and Women’s Studies programs. Her research is focused on the study of women, power, and ethnicity and the exploration of cultural identities in the United States. Recent publications include Cultural Minority Representation in the Media: A Historic View of Television’s Underserved” (2011), The New Concise Handbook of Cultural Terms: 100 or so Terms You Need to Know to Seem a Little Smarter in a Multicultural Society” (2012), the coauthored book Women, Power, and Ethnicity: Working Toward Reciprocal Empowerment and the popular book entitled You Can’t Get to Heaven Wearing Tight Shoes: A Book about Personal Honesty” (2010).
