Changes in Undergraduate Petitions Process

Please be informed that the undergraduate academic petitions process described on pages 65 - 66 of the 2005-06 FAU catalog has been changed.  Effective with the start of this semester, fall 2005, all undergraduate petitions will be heard in the individual colleges, not by a single, university-wide committee as has been past practice.  Thus, an undergraduate student wishing to file an academic petition should do so in the student services office in the college of his or her major.  Those who have not yet declared a major will continue to submit their petitions to Freshman Academic Advising Services.  Petitions from non-degree seeking students will be considered by the college from which the course, program, requirement or regulation in question emanates.  Appeals of petitions decisions may also be heard in the colleges, at their discretion, by individuals or groups not involved in the original finding.
