Welcome to Student Accessibility Services. Our mission is to support students with disabilities in their pursuit of equity and excellence in education. We greatly appreciate the service you have provided to our nation and are committed to assisting you to achieve your educational goals. SAS works with students who have varied disabilities including medical disabilities, physical disabilities, psychiatric disabilities (including PTSD), learning disabilities, visual impairments, traumatic brain injuries, and/or hearing impairments. We assess each student’s needs individually to determine how we can best support her/his success at FAU.
SAS provides a number of services to veterans with disabilities. In addition to providing academic accommodations and physical access to all areas of FAU campuses, we work with each student personally to supply referrals to other FAU support services as well as agencies within the community. We are aware that many veterans have been out of school for a number of years, and we are available to support your transition back into the academic arena. SAS has study skills training available to facilitate a smooth transition back into the classroom and to assist in the development of compensatory skills and strategies. Student Accessibility Services also houses a state of the art assistive technology lab. Hands on training in all types of assistive technology is provided to help students gain independence and prepare for entry into the workforce.
SAS collaborates with the Career Center to present specialized workshops as well as the Office of Military & Veterans Affairs. We participate in the Workforce Recruitment Program, a federal program to facilitate internship placement for students with disabilities. A number of students have found meaningful and relevant internships through their involvement with the Program.
Please feel free to contact Student Accessibility Services at 561-297-3880 for additional information. We look forward to meeting you!
