Assistive Technology Resource Center

Assistive technology equipment and computer software are available for Student Accessibility Services (SAS) students in a wheelchair accessible environment on the Boca, Davie, and Jupiter campuses. To use the Boca Assistive Technology Resource Center (ATRC), SAS students must first attend an ATRC Orientation. This orientation is designed to provide an overview of all assistive technology available. This gives the student the opportunity to participate in the process of determining which technology would be best suited for each individual special need. In addition, the orientation explains procedures and rules for working in the resource center.

ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY

We also offer help in basic computer skills to our students:

Students can fill out our Technology Competency Assessment and bring it in with them to help the lab staff address areas in which they may need assistance.

All SAS Assistive Technology Resource Center computers are equipped with software for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and include internet access to MyFAU, OASIS, and Blackboard. Questions regarding these applications are always welcomed. In addition, some equipment may be loaned based upon individual need and availability. Our Boca Staff, Stuart and Roland are available for training of students on all campuses. They possess experience and knowledge in all areas of assistive technology as well as learning skills and study strategies.
