Violence in the Workplace
Speaker: Capt. Larry Ervin, FAU Police
12 noon – 1 pm
House Chambers, Student Union Boca Campus

This program gives employees awareness of violence in the workplace, how to recognize the warning signs, and what actions to take to prevent or minimize violence. For more information, contact Tom Bradley at tbradley@fau.edu.

Safety Walk

Fun, food and education available on a variety of safety related topics. For more information, contact Cathie Wallace at cwallace@fau.edu.                                      

Organizations Participating Include: Counseling & Psychological Services, Environmental Health & Safety, University Police, Dean of Students Office, Student Health Services, Housing & Residential Life, Office of Health and Wellness Education, Campus Recreation, Student Government, College of Business, Department of Health Palm Beach County, Statewide Disaster Recovery, City of Boca Raton Ocean Rescue, Florida Highway Patrol, Planned Parenthood and the American Lung Association. A sampling of information that will be provided includes: Hurricane Readiness, FAU Alert Systems, Alcohol & Drug Abuse, Exercise & Nutrition, Office Ergonomics, Personal Safety, Fire Extinguisher Training, Campus Lightning Prediction System and Texting While Driving. Crowd Management Training
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Boca Raton - SGA House Chambers, Student Union

The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association will present a training session for employees who deal with crowds as part of their University duties. This includes campus event organizers, indoor and outdoor activity managers, theater and assembly hall managers, conference organizers and seminar hosts as well as security and safety professionals. Individuals who staff these events should be included in the training. For more information, contact Erin Malloy at emalloy1@fau.edu.

First Aid/CPR/AED Training
9:00 a.m - 4:00 p.m.
Campus Operations 118

First Aid, CPR, and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training is provided by EH&S.  This course certifies a person in First Aid, CPR and AED and takes approximately six hours to complete.  This training requires hands-on student participation.  Note: There is a charge of $26.85 per student to cover the cost of course materials, and there is a limit of 12 students per course.  For more information contact David Muncher at dmuncher@fau.edu.

FAU Alert System Test

All aspects of the FAU Alert System will be tested.  The outdoor warning sirens will be activated on the Boca Raton, Jupiter, and Harbor Branch campuses.  During this test, a loud siren sound (click here to play the sound) and a spoken message will be heard across those campuses, as well as in neighborhoods and business areas located near those campuses. University-wide e-mail, text-messaging, telephone alert, web alert and emergency hotlines will also be tested.  For more information, contact Sharlene Sookhoo at ssookhoo@fau.edu.
