Rhys came to Florida Atlantic University after serving as the president and co-founder of New World Angels, Inc., a member-managed, structured angel investor group.
Williams has been active in efforts to commercialize biotechnologies from Florida’s research universities and institutes, having co-founded several biotechnology spinout ventures. Previously he was a venture capitalist with SI Ventures and held executive positions with Ixion Biotechnology, Smith Barney, American Express, and the U.S. Army Special Forces.

Mary Katherine Morales
Interim Director of Development for the College of Medicine, Development for FAU Tech Runway® and Division of Research
Mary Katherine works with the VP for the Division of Research and the Associate VP for FAU Tech Runway® with an emphasis on economic development and major gifts for scholarships, programs and corporate grants. She works in partnership with the advisory board, mentors, business leaders, and investors to build a platform supporting innovative partnerships across the University’s campus and south Florida.
Prior to joining FAU, Morales was the Director of Public and Investor Relations for Kayne Anderson’s real estate private equity platform. In her role she was responsible for the development, coordination and execution of the public relations activities. Ms. Morales was also accountable for investor relations, working with Kayne Anderson’s marketers on behalf of institutional investors, high net worth individuals, and family offices that are currently invested in the real estate funds.
Preceding Kayne Anderson, Mary Katherine held the Vice President position for economic development at the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County where she led an award winning business initiative called ‘Behind the Gates’ designed to attract the attention of prominent CEO’s interested in relocating their businesses to Florida. Mary Katherine’ primary focus was the relocation of hedge funds, private equity, and financial services into the market.
Morales earned a BS in communications from University of Central Florida and is currently earning a MS in leadership and organizational needs and her graduate degree as a chartered advisor in philanthropy. Presently, her leadership focus includes the following organizations: UBS Woman’s Advisory Board, the Financial Services & Entrepreneurial Task Forces for the Business Development Board, and Sandpointe Hedge Fund Foundation Committee.
FAU Tech Runway® Mentor Scott H. Adams is recognized as a successful and innovative leader in the business community and an enthusiastic advocate of entrepreneurship and innovation – strengthening the links between education, research, and the development of future business enterprises. The Governor of the State of Florida appointed Scott to the board of trustees for Florida Atlantic University in 2001 where he served for 8 years.
Scott established the Adams Center for Entrepreneurship at Florida Atlantic University which is housed under the College of Business and invites entrepreneurial initiatives from all disciplines within the University as well as the community at large. Reflecting his deep belief in the importance of serving others and his community, Adams is a contributor and on the board of the Boca Raton Community Hospital Foundation. A firm believer that success begins with education, Adams supports and is on the board of trustees for the George Snow Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to Palm Beach County students. Adams continues to donate time and resources as a mentor and big brother.
Scott was the former chairman of the Board for Integrity Tracking, LLC, doing business as MobileHelp, a next generation personal emergency response service. Previously, in 1995, he co-founded, and was president of, Hiway Technologies, Inc. In three short years, Hiway Technologies became the world’s largest web hosting company with 240 employees and 150,000 accounts in 135 countries. In 1999 Hiway was acquired by Verio (NASDAQ: VRIO). In 2000, Verio was acquired by NTT Communications (NYSE: NTT).

Jessica joined FAU Tech Runway® in November as an entrepreneur program coordinator. She honed her business operations background while working in Player Development at the National Basketball Association, where she focused on helping athletes with media training and financial planning.
