IRB Meeting Schedule

NOTE: ONLY category C reviews require full board review and must meet these deadlines for the monthly meetings. All other applications may be submitted at any time.

The Social, Behavioral & Educational Research (SBER) IRB reviews all non-clinical human subjects research protocols including, but not limited to behavioral observations/recordings, evaluation of behavioral/social interventions or manipulations, educational assessments, interviews, surveys, cognitive tests, and analysis of documents that were previously gathered for non-research purposes.  The Committee will typically review studies from disciplines including, but not limited to, psychology, humanities, education, anthropology, business, public administration, journalism, history, and environmental studies. 
*Assignment of protocols that do not involve the disciplines or procedures described above will be decided on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the IRB Chairs or Director, Research Integrity.

The Health Sciences IRB (HS) reviews all clinical and health- related human subjects research protocols (except those that meet the criteria for review by Western IRB).  Protocols involving experimental treatment of patient populations, invasive biological or medical techniques, HIPAA-protected personal health information, blood draws, collection of tissues/specimens, exercise studies, or use of non-invasive procedures routinely used in clinical practice (such as EEG, MRI, sensory testing, etc.) will automatically be referred by the IRB office to the Health Sciences IRB.  Assignment of protocols that involve behavioral interventions at a clinical site will be decided on a case-by-case basis and not solely on the location of the research.
