| OTT Home | Phys Sci & Eng Life Sciences | Dr. Russell G. Kerr  Russell G. Kerr is a professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He received the Camille Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award in 1996, was elected as a “Young Observer” by the National Academy of Sciences in 2000 for the U.S. National Committee for the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, and received FAU’s President’s Research Development Award in 2001. Kerr has over 40 publications and 4 patents in the field of marine drug discovery/development. Over the past five years, his lab has been funded by the NIH, NSF, American Cancer Society, NOAA, USDA as well as other State agencies. Research Expertise: - Marine natural products chemistry
- Biosynthesis of bioactive marine natural products
- Discovery of new therapeutic agents from marine sources
- Development of sustainable supply methods via cloning of biosynthetic genes, cell culture
- Chemical ecology
