With growing concern over the fate of Florida’s coastal resources, there is a significant need to develop a marine spatial plan for the South Florida coast line to help drive and impact public policy. This theme focuses on how to best organize FAU’s expertise and take the lead in the way of facilitating research-based solutions to a variety of ecological challenges within the community. Areas of expertise being called upon within the university include: hydrological engineering, environmental engineering, transportation and urban design, social science, spatial planning, political science, marine science and communications.
