Applied & Environmental Science

FAU has a great deal of strengths in the Environmental Sciences, and the FAU Harbor Branch Pillar aims to bring those various strengths together under the overarching concept of Human-Induced Rapid Environmental Change. Strengths are organized into three key areas:

• Ecosystem (Biogeochemistry, statistics and mathematical modeling, social science, microfluidic chemistry, and epidemiology)

• Human System (behavioral science, education/public outreach, policy development and implementation, economics and
animal models of human health)

• Analytical (sensing, bioremediation for water quality (pollutants) and ground water, biochemistry, environmental chemistry)
