Understanding and adapting to climate change is one of the three University Research Priorities, and has dedicated support from Division of Research for three years. In the 2011-2012 budget, we have set aside $40,000 as seed money to develop new initiatives that would result in a formal proposal to an external funding agency. We plan to award up to four grants, with a maximum of $10,000 each. These funds cannot be used for summer salary for principal investigators, but can be available for most other purposes. They may not be combined with other Division of Research awards in the seed grant program just announced. For avoid confusion with that awards program, please submit your proposals to Nicole Hammer by November 15 for work beginning December 15 through 2012. The proposal should include a one-page description of the proposed pilot work, a clear identification of the agencies to which a follow-up proposal will be submitted, and a time frame for the work.
