Excelencia, a HSI Center for Policy & Practice, seeks to accelerate Latino student success in higher education. Since its creation, Excelencia in Education has worked with, and conducted analysis on, Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) to inform public policy. This website contains updated information on HSIs accessible through reports or infographics along with publications, research tools, an inquiry model for developing an institutional profile for Latinx students and other relevant information.
The Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions, housed at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education, seeks to elevate the educational contributions of Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) by increasing rigorous scholarship on MSIs, ensuring their participation in national policy conversations and bringing together MSIs around their common interests, strengths and challenges to increase efficiency and optimize resources. The center connects MSI academic and administrative leadership to leading reform initiatives in the United States, informing administrative, instructional and philanthropic practices at MSIs. This advances effective policies that have a positive impact on strengthening MSIs, the development and support of their students and faculty, and the quality of the elementary and secondary schools within their communities.
