Overview/History

History of the Treasure Coast Campus at Port St. Lucie

Florida Atlantic University has served the Treasure Coast since the 1970's, partnering with Indian River Community College for facilities use. In 1994, FAU purchased 50 acres in the St. Lucie West area of Port St. Lucie and moved into what is now the SL building on the southern end of the campus. After operating for eight years with limited office space and 5 classrooms, FAU joined IRCC in opening today's unique joint-use facility.

Under the leadership of Campus Vice President Ms. Gerri McPherson, the Treasure Coast Campus now enrolls close to 1,000 students and offers coursework for over 20 degrees. New faculty and staff are continually added to support the rapidly growing academic programs and student support services.
