On the theme of: FAU AS A FIRST CHOICE FOR STUDENTS

In the “First Choice” cafés, attendees are speaking about:

Some of reasons why (attendees) choose FAU “first”?
  • “It (FAU) is close to home, close to beach and major cities”
  • “I wanted good academics”
  • “I like smaller campus size”
  • “It (FAU) has better residential housing facilities than peer institutions”
  • “I liked the availability of majors”
Attendees feel FAU needs to improve the following to be considered “first choice”:
  • “We need better professors that are proficient in speaking English”
  • “We need to improve internet connectivity”
  • “(The University) needs to increase in residential housing facilities”
  • “More honest feedback on what FAU has to offer. (I) felt misinformed”
  • “Shuttle bus to other and between campuses”
  • “Increase in social activities for commuter students”
Café attendee’s feedback on action:
  • “How can these improvements be implemented? Will they be implemented in a timely manner? How can FAU become a larger first choice school? How can campus life be expanded to become more immersive and include the entire student body?”
  • “How can the University attract future students?”
  • “What is the University doing to attract more future students”
  • “Are these comments really going to be considered? What actions will be taken?”
  • “Do we need to be a ‘first choice’?”
What actions have been created from the first choice café? Stay tuned.
