In the Diversity cafés, attendees are speaking about:
- “(Diversity) is more than race and religion. FAU is more diverse than initially thought”
- "...the many variations of diversity and the different channels that FAU has and is taking to accomplish more for diversity”
- “Exploring different ways that FAU can increase diversity and remember all the efforts already made.”
- “Nothing new was discussed, just what could be done better”
- “...the inclusion of elderly, technology and veterans under the aspects of diversity”
- “Who is making all of these important (diversity) decisions and how can I influence them?”
- “What are the long-term goals for diversity and how [they] plan to accomplish them?”
- “How to showcase diversity better?”
Some of the suggested actions for Diversity by café attendees:
- Start special interest groups and clubs
- Increase social involvement among different groups
- Individuals should venture beyond the borders of their "comfort circle"
- Petition for funding for multicultural programs and scholarships/tuition
- Participate in college fairs outside of the United States
- Create job fairs directed to benefit internships/post-degree job
- Hire more diverse faculty
- Increase awareness of (diversity) services

In the “First Choice” cafés, attendees are speaking about:
Some of reasons why (attendees) choose FAU “first”?
- “It (FAU) is close to home, close to beach and major cities”
- “I wanted good academics”
- “I like smaller campus size”
- “It (FAU) has better residential housing facilities than peer institutions”
- “I liked the availability of majors”
Attendees feel FAU needs to improve the following to be considered “first choice”:
- “We need better professors that are proficient in speaking English”
- “We need to improve internet connectivity”
- “(The University) needs to increase in residential housing facilities”
- “More honest feedback on what FAU has to offer. (I) felt misinformed”
- “Shuttle bus to other and between campuses”
- “Increase in social activities for commuter students”
Café attendee’s feedback on action:
- “How can these improvements be implemented? Will they be implemented in a timely manner? How can FAU become a larger first choice school? How can campus life be expanded to become more immersive and include the entire student body?”
- “How can the University attract future students?”
- “What is the University doing to attract more future students”
- “Are these comments really going to be considered? What actions will be taken?”
- “Do we need to be a ‘first choice’?”
