FAU graduate proves age is just a number

FAU graduate proves age is just a number

My favorite day of the semester is graduation day, when I get to shake the hands of students receiving degrees and wish them well. This rite of passage was especially memorable last week, when the graduating class included 89-year-old Betty Reilly. The audience exploded with cheers when Betty’s name was announced, and she crossed the stage of the Kaye Auditorium to thunderous applause. That moment marked the culmination of 11 years of dedicated effort by this great-grandmother to obtain her bachelor’s degree in English. Next up: graduate work! To read the story about Betty that ran on the front page of the Sun-Sentinel and hear from the graduate herself, click here

Way to go, Betty! You’re bold, you’re daring, you’re FAU!
