Brogan Named Chancellor of State University System of Florida

Frank T. Brogan, a 1981 graduate of Florida Atlantic University who returned to his alma mater in 2003 to become its fifth president, will soon take on a challenging new assignment. In September, he’ll leave FAU for Tallahassee to become chancellor of the State University System. In this new role, he will be the administrative leader of Florida’s 11 public universities, guiding their continued growth during difficult economic times.

His six years at FAU have seen tremendous progress on all fronts, from the construction of more than $250 million in new facilities on the University’s seven campuses to the steady increase of admission standards. On President Brogan’s watch, the University has entered into immensely promising partnerships with internationally known research giants, launched a four-year medical education program, and developed and implemented a comprehensive strategic plan, among other important advances.

There can be no doubt that President Brogan has provided strong and effective leadership to FAU, and he will most certainly be missed. His FAU family wishes him well as he embarks upon an exciting new chapter in his career. Please enjoy this website, which revisits some of the high points of the Brogan years.
