A Day to Honor Our American Heroes

On Monday, we will observe Veterans Day, the national holiday dedicated to the men and women who have bravely served our country in the armed forces. No classes will be held on Monday, and most university offices will be closed. I hope you will take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy as Americans, and remember the many military service people who are currently deployed far from home, working to protect those freedoms.

At FAU, we show our appreciation for our veterans every day. We’ve made it a top priority to provide programs and services to encourage our veterans’ success as they return to civilian life. Our Military and Veterans Student Success Center offers resources such as peer mentoring, internship and employment opportunities, and social gatherings for more than 1,500 military and veteran Owls. FAU also recently was selected by the Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program as one of six network partners to administer an entrepreneur initiative throughout Florida. The program offers resources to help veterans successfully launch and operate a company. Enjoy the long weekend, and thank you to all of our military veterans. Go Owls!
