Calling All Owls to Help on Move-In Day

It’s been said that the definition of a true friend is someone who’ll help you move. Owl Nation has built a tradition around that great favor. Just before the beginning of every fall semester, the call goes out for volunteers to help new and returning residential students get settled in their campus homes. This is that call. Can you devote a couple of hours to helping arriving students unpack their cars and carry their gear to their rooms? Many freshmen will be embarking upon their first experience living away from home. You can help get them off to a good start by lending a hand, answering their questions and offering words of welcome.

On the Boca campus, Move-In Day will take place on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for freshmen and on Friday, Aug. 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. for returning students. On the Jupiter campus, freshmen and transfer students will move in on Tuesday, Aug. 11, starting at 8 a.m. and returning students will move in on Saturday, Aug. 15, starting at 9 a.m.

If you can pitch in, please contact the Department of Housing and Residential Education at moveincrew@fau.edu for the Boca campus or jonesm@fau.edu for Jupiter. Thank you for whatever you might be able to do to help welcome the students who’ll call FAU home during the coming academic year.
