Focusing on Cybersecurity

Researchers from FAU’s College of Engineering and Computer Science are working to address an issue that affects millions of people worldwide: cyber threats. The College recently launched FloridaSOAR, a program designed to detect Internet exploitations and share the information with IoT (Internet of things) operators around the globe.

Leading the charge is Elias Bou-Harb, Ph.D., director of the Cyber Threat Intelligence Laboratory at FAU and FloridaSOAR, who was awarded $175,000 from the National Science Foundation to study cyberattacks. In just 24 hours, Dr. Bou-Harb and his team found more than 250,000 malicious activities in the United States. Florida was in the top 10 nationwide for number of attacks and Boca Raton was among the top 10 cities in the state for infection rates. Click here to read more about their study.
