Freshman Convocation a Rite of Passage for New Students

Freshman Convocation a Rite of Passage for New Students

On Sunday, FAU will host its largest-ever Freshman Convocation as more than 3,600 first-time-in-college students are welcomed to the university community. This rite of passage marks an important transition in the lives of our youngest students, launching them into a whole new era in their academic careers. I will have the privilege of addressing them, as will Provost Gary Perry, Dean of Undergraduate Studies Edward Pratt and FAU sophomore Henry June III. The keynote address will be delivered by the 2015 Distinguished Teacher of the Year, Dr. Javad Hashemi.

All faculty and staff are invited to take part this event, which will be held in the Kaye Auditorium on the Boca campus. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. as faculty in academic regalia, as well as staff members who hold doctoral degrees, enter the auditorium in a formal processional. For detailed information, please visit the Convocation website

Following the Convocation, everyone is invited to enjoy the Get WOW’d Involvement Fair at FAU Stadium, where there will be food, entertainment and lots of fun. Welcome, Class of 2019!
