Demands of Business, Government, and Society coupled with the natural evolution of organizations are creating opportunities necessitating new methods and approaches. These new methods and approaches have spawned a new era of collaboration amongst the three sectors and public procurement and supply chain management disciplines are emerging as frontrunners. Public procurement and supply chain professionals will now begin and continue entering into leadership positions. This presentation will serve as a primer for the under researched area of Collaborative Entrepreneurialism through Procurement. The combination of organizational entrepreneurship, as provided by the public sector; business entrepreneurship through technology, innovation, and need for capital, as well as social entrepreneurship through non-profits, are providing an expansive array of opportunities through partnership solutions addressing such demands.
Daniel G. Bauer, Managing Director of the Public Procurement Research Center at Florida Atlantic University, has been selected as a Member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Team of Specialists on Public-Private Partnerships (“UNECE TOS on PPPs”). Daniel will be attending the Sixth Session of the Team of Specialists on Public-Private Partnerships, to be held June 23-24, 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland. Daniel joins as one of only 16 Academics, 227 Advisors, and 55 Public Officials comprising the Team of Specialists.
The UNECE TOS on PPPs mandate is to increase the expertise of governments to identify, negotiate, manage, and implement successful public-private partnerships. This will be done through exchange of knowledge and experiences of PPPs by member countries, including experts from public and private sectors, particularly in the identification and testing of best practices. The activities will result in guides on best practice, studies and innovative tools that can be used in capacity-building programs and training with special emphasis on six key areas: Water & Sanitation, Renewable Energy, Roads, Information and Communications Technology (“ICT”), Healthcare, and Good Governance.
The UNECE consists of 56 member nations, including countries of Europe, North America, Central Asia, and Western Asia. The UNECE was formerly founded in 1947.
