PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the website of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Florida Atlantic University!
Academic year 2006-2007 was another landmark one for our Chapter. We had over 200 student initiates attend our ceremony on Saturday, April 21, 2007. Our keynote speaker was Dr. William Lazer, the first eminent Scholar in Business, the Sensormatic Chair, and Distinguished Research Scholar in Marketing from the Barry Kaye College of Business. Michelle Pelletier, from the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, was FAU’s first recipient of a national Award for Excellence of $2,000. Lorraine Fuhrman, from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, was the recipient of our chapter’s Honors Convocation award of $3,000.
Our Endowed Scholarship account has met our initial funding goal of $10,000. The purpose of this fund is to support our annual $10,000 in scholarship awards to outstanding FAU students. I would like to encourage you to support our Endowed Scholarship Fund (Foundation Account: SAF120) when you make your yearly donation to FAU.
The Chapter was also an active participant in FAU’s Inaugural Freshman Reading Program and Freshman Convocation. Phi Kappa Phi provided five $100 awards to first-year students who demonstrated academic excellence by participating in online discussions of The Orchid Thief, completing the Summer Reading Program, and submitting a short reflective essay on their academic aspirations at FAU.
Our next initiation ceremony will be on Saturday April 19, 2008, 2 - 4 pm in the Live Oak Pavilion, Boca Raton Campus. The invitations will go out in early March. Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is a high honor. If you receive an invitation, you have a minimum 3.5 GPA. If a Junior, you are in the top 7.5% of your college; if a Senior or a graduate student, you are in the top 10% of your college.
Please consider joining Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective honor society recognizing and rewarding scholastic achievement in all academic disciplines. As a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, you will be in the company of many distinguished members. You will also be eligible for more than $700,000 in national awards granted yearly for graduate fellowships, study abroad, and other competitive awards.
As the President of Chapter 128, I am delighted to welcome you to the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi at Florida Atlantic University
Sincerely yours,

Mary Ann Gosser Esquilín, Ph.D.
President, Phi Kappa Phi, Chapter 128
