Blue Permit Holders

As a blue commuter permit holder you are allowed to park in all of the blue lots. Blue permitted vehicles may park in red lots between the hours of 6PM and 7AM unless otherwise posted. Blue permits may park in lot 40 PBSC during the day from 6AM to 11PM. Overnight parking is not permitted, and no vehicles may be parked in the PBSC lot between 11PM and 6AM.

Green Permit Holders

As a green residential permit holder you are allowed to park in all of the green lots. Green permits may park in Blue and Red permit lots between the hours of 6PM and 7AM unless otherwise posted. PBSC lot 40 is off-limits to all green permits at all times.  

Black Permit Holders (Jupiter)

As a black permit holder you are allowed to park in the black lots on Jupiter and the Blue parking lots on the Boca Raton Campus.

Placement of Permit rearwindowplacement

The permit must be affixed on the outside of the vehicle. Peel the backing from the permit and place it on the driver's side of the rear window. Permits MAY NOT be affixed inside the vehicle or by means other than the adhesive of the permit. A vehicle in non-compliance with applicable rules is subject to ticketing.

Obtaining a permit

Students are eligible to register for their parking permits 24 hours after they have registered for their classes. To register for a permit:
1. Go to MyFAU account. (myfau.fau.edu)
2. Students click on the “Money Matters” tab.
3. Click on “Parking and Transportation Services”.
4. Click on “Purchase Permit”.
5. Fill out the information correctly.
6. Print out the confirmation page and follow the instructions carefully.
 
Please put the confirmation page on the dashboard. The confirmation page is valid for up to three weeks (21 days) to allow for you to receive the permit in the mail. If you have not received the permit within this time, please come to the Office for Parking & Transportation Services for further instructions.

ATTENTION: Downtown Campus :    When registering for a permit online you will need to obtain a temporary permit from the security office at the Downtown campus. The City of Fort Lauderdale does not honor the confirmation page that is printed at the end of permit registration.

Second permit

The Transportation Access Fee only allows students to obtain one permit. Blue permit holders do have the option of coming to the Parking and Transportation Services Office to purchase a second permit at $15. When you come in please bring your vehicle registration so that we can confirm that the vehicle is registered to the same address.     

Replacement permit

To obtain a replacement permit you will need to bring your previous permit back to the Parking office so that we may exchange it for a new one. If you do not have your previous permit, you will need to purchase another one for $15.

Red Hangtag Red Permit Holders

As a red permit holder you are allowed to park in all of the red or blue lots from 6AM to 11PM.  Permit holders may not park in single use meter spots or metered lots.

Placement of the Permit

Hangtags must be displayed on the rearview mirror, or on the driver’s side of the dashboard if the hangtag cannot be hung or a rearview mirror is not present.

Second Permit

For Faculty and Staff, the price of a second permit is one-half of the price of the first permit. You must come into the office to obtain a hangtag. Replacement permit Replacement permits can be obtained in the Parking and Transportation Services Office for a fee of $15.00.

Please note that new employees and adjunct employees may not be able to access their accounts immediately. If you have problems accessing your account, please e-mail our office at faupark@fau.edu.

Thank you for visiting our campus.  There are designated parking areas reserved for all FAU visitors.

visitorparking Temporary Parking Passes & Permits

 

Temporary Permits for visitors or guests may be purchased online by creating a guest account.

If you don't already have a guest account, you can create a guest account here . If you are a returning guest, you can login to your guest account here.

Once logged into the parking Account, choose Purchase Permits to begin the process.
Permits are:

  • assigned to a vehicle and a person and are non-transferable
  • are effective immediately
  • must have  the correct vehicle information or the permit will be not be valid
  • non-refundable

At the end of registration, you will need to print the temporary permit. Ensure you are at a computer with a printer attached.

 

Temporary Parking Passes and Temporary Parking Permits can also be obtained either at the Information Booth or at the Parking and Transportation Services Office. If you need to park on campus for an extended amount of time you may also choose to purchase a temporary permit to fit your need.

Temporary Permit Fees

Temporary Passes are available for one month at a time.  You will need to return to the office to renew after the permit has expired.  Please bring in your vehicle registration and your driver's license.  When purchasing a pass you may either pay with cash or credit.

Meters

Single Meters and Metered Lots are available for visitors coming to our campus for short periods of time. You can pay the multispace meters at different locations around the campus. 

On each meter there is information on how long you can pay the meter for.  Please do not overfeed the meter.  You will not obtain the extra time paid for and there are no refunds.  All meters are enforced 24/7.

Multispace Meter Rates

$1 per hour

Maximum you can pay the meter is $10 for 10 hours

METERS DO NOT PROVIDE CHANGE and there are NO Refunds.

 

Important

Only vehicles without a FAU permit will be allowed to park at the meters.  If you have a problem with a meter please feel free to contact the office at 561-297-2771.

How to use a multispace meter.

Master Meter

  1. Note space number you parked in
  2. Press any key on the keypad to activate if blank
  3. Enter space number
  4. Choose Purchase Ticket or Add Time
  5. Press number on keypad to select options
    1. Metered $1 per/hr
    2. Departmental Code
    3. Make Payment with either credit card or cash (No Change Given)
  6. Please Take receipt (Retain receipt in case you need to add time later.)

How to add time to your meter

(This option is only available if your time has not expired.)

  1. Press any key on keypad
  2. Enter space number
  3. Choose Purchase Time or Add Time
  4. Enter Add Time Number located on receipt
  5. Make payment

visitorparking Volunteering on Campus

A volunteer is defined as any person performing hours of service for the University without promise, expectation, or receipt of compensation for services rendered and is not otherwise employed by the University in another department elsewhere or in student capacity. For the purpose of this rule, a guest lecturer, teacher or intern, is not considered a volunteer.  

Volunteers will be issued commuter parking permits free of charge as long as appropriate documentation is provided by the respective department to the Office of Parking and Transportation.
An email must be submitted by the Department Supervisor to hardy@fau.edu. Permits are issued by semester only.
