Parking Rules

  • Park in lot colors that correspond to your permit color only.
  • Do not park at meters if you have a permit.
  • Always park your vehicle head in.
  • Make sure that your temporary permanent permit has not expired and is visible.
  • Permits are not transferable.  Please contact parking and transportation services if you will be using a rental or borrowing another car at any point for instructions on permitting.
  • NEVER park in a Disabled Spot unless you are a current disabled placard holder.
  • Always park between the lines in designated spots only. Parking along the curb or "creating your own spot" in a parking lot can cause traffic disruptions and can even place others in dangerous situations by blocking emergency vehicles.
  • Always arrive early and give yourself plenty of time to find parking and get to class.  FAU does have plenty of spots available, but some of them do require walking or a shuttle ride.

The Transportation Access Fee only allows students to obtain one permit. Blue permit holders do have the option of coming to the Parking and Transportation Services Office to purchase a second permit at $15. When you come in please bring your vehicle registration so that we can confirm that the vehicle is registered to the same address.

Temporary parking passes can also be used to park on campus. As a first time visitor your first one day pass is free. If you need to park on campus for an extended amount of time you may also choose to purchase a temporary permit to fit your need. You may purchase a day pass for two dollars, a week pass for five dollars, or a month pass for fifteen dollars. We only give out passes one month at a time. Anything longer and you will need to return to the office to renew. Please bring in your vehicle registration and your driver's license. Disabled Parking on Campus
A current, valid state-issued disabled placard must be displayed on any vehicle parked in a disabled parking space on the campus.  Vehicles displaying disabled parking placards, whether permanent or temporary, must also display valid FAU parking permits at all times while parked on the campus.

Disabled parking spaces are located throughout the FAU campus; however, in the unlikely event that the vehicle operator is unable to find an available disabled parking space he or she may utilize any parking meter space for up to four (4) hours without charge.
Parking with another person's state-issued disabled placard is prohibited by Florida law. The placard may be confiscated, a parking and/or criminal citation issued and the vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense. The person to whom the placard is assigned to must be transported in the vehicle when parking. You are not permitted to drop someone off across campus and then park the vehicle. This may result in a parking citation and/or the vehicle being towed at the owner's expense.
