OPA

Special Events Committee

Chair- Shari Sopourn

  • Organize and plan special events for the Owl Parent Association with the direction of the Vice President for Internal Relations and The Office of Parent and Family Programs
  • Attend other events on behalf of the organization in order to raise visibility for the Owl Parent Association
  • Maintain the Owl Parent Association’s special events calendar for the academic year.
  • Oversee the Special Events Committee.

Parliamentarian Committee

Chair- Kathy Jenkins

  • Ensure that the constitution of the organization is being upheld through decision making, events, programs, and initiatives of Owl Parent Association.
  • Attend regularly scheduled OPA board meetings
  • Responsible for keeping order within the organization
  • Receive written complaints and/or other concerns from the general body meetings
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the president
  • Provide all documents and records pertaining to his/her responsibilities to the newly-elected Treasurer.

Public Relations/Marketing Committee

Chair- Vacant

  • Oversee and manage social media accounts for the Owl Parents Association
  • Compile an annual written narrative and photographic account of all the organization’s activities and events.
  • Update social media accounts with information such as upcoming events and news about the organization
  • Be a channel of information for the general public
  • Prepares and supervises the production of publicity flyers, brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programs.
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the President
  • Provide all documents and records pertaining to his/her responsibilities to the newly-elected Public Relations chair.

Membership Committee

Chair- Kristen Sarlo

  • Ensure that the constitution of the organization is being upheld through decision making, events, programs, and initiatives of Owl Parent Association.
  • Attend regularly scheduled OPA board meetings
  • Construct and maintain member’s attendance at events and programs
  • Develop and coordinate programs and activities that are designated to enhance Parent Association membership
  • Maintain general membership of the Owl Parent Association
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the president
  • Provide all documents and records pertaining to his/her responsibilities to the newly-elected membership chair.

Fundraising/Development Committee

Chair- Vacant

  • Ensure that the constitution of the organization is being upheld through decision making, events, programs, and initiatives of Owl Parent Association.
  • Attend regularly scheduled OPA board meetings
  • Responsible for obtaining fundraising events
  • Maintaining community partner relationships in promotional items and discounts
  • Finding opportunities to get members involved in fundraising opportunities
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the president
  • Provide all documents and records pertaining to his/her responsibilities to the newly-elected Fundraising/Development Chair.

Recruitment Committee

Chair- Vacant

  • Ensure that the constitution of the organization is being upheld through decision making, events, programs, and initiatives of Owl Parent Association.
  • Attend regularly scheduled OPA board meetings
  • Responsible generating new members to join OPA
  • Promote membership relations through campus open house and new student orientation
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the president
  • Provide all documents and records pertaining to his/her responsibilities to the newly-elected Recruitment Chair

Jupiter Campus Committee

Chair- Lisa Stella

  • Ensure that the constitution of the organization is being upheld through decision making, events, programs, and initiatives of Owl Parent Association.
  • Attend regularly scheduled OPA board meetings
  • Serve as a liaison for the Jupiter campus OPA members
  • Assist in special projects assigned by the president
  • Provide all documents and records pertaining to his/her responsibilities to the newly-elected Jupiter Campus Chair.
