HOMECOMING at FAU Homecoming is an annual tradition of the United States. Townspeople, high schools and colleges come together, usually in late September or early October, to welcome back former residents and alumni. The events may consist of a Homecoming Dance or Banquet, a parade featuring the school’s marching band and sports teams, and the coronation of a Homecoming Queen and King during the FAU Homecoming Football game. It is a time to proudly display school spirit and create memories during “Homecoming Week.” The tradition is welcomed at FAU. It is, once again, a time for families to visit with their students during some of the events offered and a time for students to join their friends and show school spirit. The Homecoming events at FAU include the Homecoming Ball, a 5K Fun Run sponsored by FAU’s Department of Campus Recreation and the Office of Alumni Affairs, the Homecoming Parade, Fall Family Fest with the Homecoming Bonfire, and a Homecoming Football Game. Friday, November 4, 2011 Homecoming Parade @ 4:30PM The fifth annual Homecoming Parade will run through FAU’s Boca Raton campus and feature University officials, local middle and high school marching bands, along with accompanying floats from various FAU student organizations, university departments, and athletics. Owsley, FAU’s mascot, will also be on hand to greet the community. If you would like to help with the Owl Parent Association homecoming float please e-mail owlparents@fau.edu. Fall Family Fest @ 5PM Fall Family Fest is a fun-filled, carnival-themed event with music, games and prizes, a bounce house, face painting, balloon art and free food. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet FAU faculty and staff. The Homecoming Bonfire takes place celebrating the anticipation of FAU’s football game against Arkansas State on Saturday, November 5th, at The FAU Stadium. Bonfire At the end of Fall Family Fest gear up with Student Affairs as they burn the Arkansas State mascot. Saturday, November 5, 2011 Owl Parent Association Tailgate Party: 1-4PM Join the Owl Parent Association in the pre-game festivities at the OPA tent. Food will be catered. FAU Football vs. Arkansas State @ 4PM Come watch the FAU Owls as they take on Arkansas State University. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime. CLICK HERE to pay for entrance into the tailgate and tickets for the football game. The cost for Owl Parent Association Members is $40. The cost for non-members is $40. OPA members will receive a discount code for 10% off. FAU students are $15 and get into the game for free. Come and visit the “home away from home” of your students . . .
