YOU CAN JOIN US ANYTIME FROM ANYWHERE
As OLLI staff and faculty continue to work remotely from home during this time, we have been striving to bring you quality online programs during the summer semester. There are many reasons why online programs have become a popular form of distance learning today. The online environment offers unprecedented opportunities for people who would otherwise have limited access to education.

As an OLLI member, or a potential member, you can participate in our classes from anywhere in the world provided you have a computer and Internet connection. The online format allows physically challenged students more freedom to participate in class, and it is also accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Log on when it is convenient for you!

We continue to look at how to improve our online offerings and would like to hear from you. In the next few weeks, we will be sending out a survey to gather feedback about our online programs. This survey will be sent to you via email. please take a moment to fill out the short survey.

While online programs have significant strengths and offer unprecedented accessibility to quality education, there are sometimes weaknesses inherent in the use of technology that can pose potential threats to the success of any online program. We want to address those weaknesses.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see you online.

Learning is Better When We’re Connected

OUR OLLI FACULTY NEEDS YOU
We would like to thank you again for your generous donations and membership renewals. Without your support, we would not be able to provide you with our lectures and courses. As many of you already know, OLLI Jupiter is a financially independent auxiliary of Florida Atlantic University. We do not receive any financial support from either the University or the State. As a self-supporting program, we need your support now more than ever.

More importantly, our OLLI instructors need your support more than ever. Our OLLI faculty play a massive role in the delivery of a world-class student experience. However, with so many priorities competing for their time — and so many priorities playing into their career progression — faculty members often do not have the opportunity to explore new ways to serve the community. But, with the support of their deans and FAU, OLLI Jupiter provides that opportunity. It is their impact on our lectures and courses that have made our program a success.

Overnight, our faculty found novel ways to reproduce the benefits of face-to-face instruction and on-campus experiences for our members during this pandemic. And while it is a work in progress, they are continuously striving to bring you the online experience you deserve. Please continue to support, not only our OLLI program, but the faculty as well, by signing up for new lectures and courses as they become available. As we move forward during this unprecedented time, we know for certain that our faculty will prepare proactively to present and cement an exemplar academic experience for our OLLI members.

Thank You!

Learning is Better When We’re Connected

Dear OLLI Members,

Right now, we need your help to spread the word about our online programs. By telling your friends and family about OLLI On demand at FAU Jupiter, you can exponentially help to increase the awareness about our programs that assist lifelong learners to stay connected during these challenging times.

While we encourage participants to become members of our program, we do understand that some may have restrictions to becoming a member. We do not want the requirement of membership to prevent individuals from participating in our program. While we value the importance of membership, we want to encourage new students to register for lectures to see if our program meets their lifelong learning needs.

Lifelong learning programs are important because they improve the quality of life in communities and they help foster overall good health, particularly brain health, and personal achievement. With your help, we can expand our community beyond Florida.

Thank You!

Coronavirus Update - 03/13/2020

Dear Jupiter Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Members,

The health and safety of our members is our top priority. Through working with FAU in response to the spreading of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the high risk of our population, and deep concern for members, it is imperative that we postpone in-person classes/lectures as of today, March 12. The university will continually monitor the evolving situation closely and provide periodic updates. In-person classes will resume when it is determined that the health and safety issues related to the virus and OLLI population are diminished.

As a valued member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University, we want to remind you that OLLI is a part of FAU and follows all FAU policies and procedures regarding the measures taken to protect OLLI members, faculty and staff. On March 11, FAU announced that all degree seeking class instruction would transition to online beginning on March 16 through tentatively March 30. The degree seeking students will work with their instructors to transition to online courses.

At the current time, no cases of coronavirus have been reported at FAU. However, the Florida State University System's Board of Governors directed state universities to take steps to minimize the health and safety risks of respective communities. This directive includes the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. As a result, the University sites are open for faculty, staff, administrators and degree seeking students still remaining in residence halls. Other individuals are asked to please not come on campus.

So, all performances, classes, and events at OLLI at FAU Jupiter are, to-date, postponed. The good news is that we are working on alternative methods to bring a select number of spring lectures/courses to you online. We ask for your patience over the next few days while we work on this transition and have a firm plan in place. The plan will be posted here with the updates.

More directions are coming via updates on which classes will be offered and what to do if you have registered for a class that will not have an online offering.

OLLI at FAU Jupiter will continue to implement best practices, follow FAU directions, and CDC recommendations. If you have any questions, please contact us at ollijupiter@fau.edu or 561-799-8547.
