Parent & Guest Orientation

Parent/Guest Orientation was created for parents/family of incoming FAU students. We offer Parent & Guest Orientation at both Freshman Orientation and Transfer Orientation. While Orientation for students is mandatory, Parent & Guest Orientation is optional. We strongly encourage you to attend Parent & Guest Orientation. If you wish to attend with your student, please have him/her add you as a guest when they are signing up for orientation.

Freshman Parent/Guest Orientation

Parents, families, and guests play an important role in their student’s transition to Florida Atlantic University. Our parent & guest orientation program is designed to provide an opportunity to learn about all that FAU has to offer and ask questions of other families, current students, university staff, and administrators. This program is a separate but concurrent session with the Student Program. Except for a few select presentations and meals, students and families will attend Orientation separately.  Keep in mind that the freshman orientation is a two day program, Day 1 starts at 8 AM and ends at 5 PM and Day 2 starts at 9 AM and ends at 12 pm.

Students can pre-register family members for orientation through the orientation reservation system through owldone.fau.edu. If a student forgets to register a family member prior to orientation, they can be registered as a walk-in during orientation check-in. The cost associated with each adult family member attending, which includes the prices of two meals, is $70.

Family members can access the detailed schedule through downloading the Owls Guides app, which is located through the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android). Make sure to download the New Student Orientation guide and feel free to explore the topics presented at Orientation.

Family members or guests attending orientation will be responsible for their off-campus accommodations.

Transfer Parent/Guest Orientation

Transfer Orientation will take approximately six to eight hours. You and your student will spend time learning about various resources on campus as well as FAU's policies and procedures then you will go to a session designed especially for parents/guests. In this session, we will discuss ways you can support your transfer student while they are here at FAU. We will also provide you with many resources to help you assist in the success of your student. We will provide some useful guides and information to take home. Keep in mind that the transfer orientation is a one day program, starting at 8 AM and ending at 5 PM.
