As the Associate Director of New Student and Owl Family Programs Dr. Bill Horstman focuses on Academic Initiatives and Outreach programs related to new undergraduate students. In this position Dr. Horstman assists new students and parents make a smooth transition to Florida Atlantic University.
With over thirty years of experience in higher education Dr. Horstman has worked in both Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. He received his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Oklahoma State University, his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from Oklahoma State University, and his doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Colorado State University.
Dr. Horstman is uniquely qualified for his position as his Ph.D. research was in the field freshman programs (such as the FAU SLS course). His research interests include: the Freshman Year Experience, retention, developmental and remedial education.
