The Boca Campus Book Loan Program WHAT IS THE BOOK LOAN PROGRAM Eligible FAU students may borrow one course textbook from the Office of Multicultural Affairs and keep it for the entire semester free of charge. In return, students are asked to complete three hours of community service by the end of the semester. WHO IS ELIGIBLE To be eligible for the Book Loan Program, students must be 1) currently registered as a degree-seeking student; 2) currently enrolled in the class for which the book is required, and 3) currently receive financial assistance through the Office of Financial Aid.
WHICH BOOKS ARE OFFERED Books that are loaned to students are for the core classes in the major in which they are currently registered. Students should review the catalogue to ensure that their courses are core courses for the books they are wishing to obtain. Books loaned do not include study guides, workbooks, annuals, lecture notes, or suggested materials. HOW MANY BOOKS MAY A STUDENT OBTAIN Students are only allowed to borrow one book per semester. There are a limited number of books available for each course and a limited amount of funding available each academic year. DECISION ON SELECTED STUDENTS AND NOTIFICATION Students are approved for the Book Loan Program based on a combination of factors that include but are not limited to: 1) eligibility, 2) date complete application was submitted, and 3) past borrower history. Students are notified 24 to 72 hours after the drop/add deadline if they qualify for the Book Loan Program. Students then have three business days after they have been notified to pick up their books or it may be given to another student. SERVICE HOURS Students must complete FIVE hours of community service during the semester for EACH book that is borrowed. Students must utilize the Boca FAU Civic Engagement and Service Center to complete these hours. Their office is located on the 2nd Floor, Room 225 of the Student Services Building, above the Breezeway Cafeteria, -across the hall from our office. The book and community service hours must be returned to our office on or before the last day of the semester. Hours must be logged in On-Line at Noblehour. If a student is tardy in returning their textbook on two or more occasions, they will be ineligible to participate in the book loan program.
