Several
instructional computer and open labs were upgraded
in June on the Davie and Fort Lauderdale
campuses.
A total of 45 Dell machines in the Main Open
Computer Lab (LA-303) on the Davie Campus were
upgraded from 1 GB of RAM to 3 GB of RAM, which
will improve the performance and expected life of
the equipment. Similarly, 11 iMacs in the Main Open
Computer Lab on the Fort Lauderdale Campus
(HEC-611) were also upgraded from 2 GB to 4 GB of
memory.
At the same time, OIT-BCS worked on the upgrade of
four exclusive-use departmental labs and
classrooms. Staff upgraded the memory of the 27
machines in AT-415 on the Fort Lauderdale Campus
from 2 GB to 10 GB. The AT-928 (Gaming Lab)
machines were upgraded from 2 GB to 8 GB of
RAM.
A total of 15 new iMacs were set up and configured
in AT-414. These two facilities serviced by OIT-BCS
are part of the Multimedia Department of the
College of Arts and Letters. On the Davie Campus,
OIT-BCS Learning Resources staff helped the College
of Science by replacing old plasma TVs with new
projectors in ES-315.
