Echo 360 company logoOIT-BCS recently implemented the EchoSystem from the Echo 360 company. This system, which is already available on the Boca Raton and the FAU Northern campuses, allows the automatic capturing of class lectures by converting them into podcasts that are accessible on-demand.

The system, which was installed at the beginning of the Spring 2009 semester, is now available in the videoconference classrooms of the Davie campus. The system captures the audio, video, and other visual aid information that professors use in their lectures. That information is automatically published in a seamless way into the Blackboard course, allowing students to review it or download it at their convenience. Students can review the lectures in their computers, or through their iPods or MP3 players.

One advantage of the system is that the lectures include a full-motion replay of course visuals synchronized with the instructor s voice and video.

For more information about how to use the system in the Davie videoconference classrooms, please contact Ewart Borland, Broward Campuses Learning Resources Manager, at Borland@fau.edu. You can also check the EchoSystem brochure online.
