Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters has teamed up with the Palm Beach Book Festival to present New York Times best-selling authors in a virtual interview format.

Tim Weiner will discuss his book, “The Folly and the Glory: America, Russia and Political Warfare, 1945-2020” with Renat Shaykhutdinov, Ph.D., FAU associate professor of political science. This online event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is at https://fauf.fau.edu/pbbf-weiner/.  All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit student scholarships in the college. To purchase the book, visit www.bkstr.com/faustore/product/folly-and-the-glory-660864-1.

With vivid storytelling and insider accounts, Weiner traces the roots of political warfare and the conflict America and Russia have waged with espionage, sabotage, diplomacy and disinformation from 1945 until 2020. Weiner takes us behind closed doors, illuminating Russian and American intelligence operations and their consequences.

Other FAU/Palm Beach Book Festival author events for the fall include Mitch Albom with “Finding Chika: A Little Girl, an Earthquake, and the Making of a Family” on Monday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m.; and James Patterson and Kwame Alexander with “The Making of Muhammad Ali” on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. For more information, visit fau.edu/bookfestival.
