The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida Atlantic University in Jupiter will present a lecture by General Ernest C. Audino on Thursday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.

“The Middle East: A General’s View,” hosted by Mehmet Gurses, Ph.D., an associate professor of political science at FAU, will provide an overview of the security situations in Syria and Iraq based on personal insights from General Audino’s own experiences. He will examine the allied efforts to destroy the Islamic State, the Iraqi Kurdish referendum on independence and the Great Power discord over the future of the Middle East region.

Audino is a Senior Military Fellow at the London Center for Policy Research. He is also the only U.S. general to have served in Iraq as a combat advisor embedded in a Kurdish Peshmerga unit. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, and holds a master’s degree in national security and strategy from the U.S. National War College, as well as a Master of Law and Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School.
