Florida Atlantic University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, in collaboration with FAU’s Brain Institute, Jupiter Life Science Initiative and Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College, will present a lecture by renowned author and photographer Bill Hayes on Monday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. in the OLLI complex at FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus, 5353 Parkside Dr., in Jupiter.  The evening will include introductions and discussion led by notable FAU neuroscientists.

“We are honored to bring this celebrated author to campus,” said Alex Keene, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences within FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. “Support of this lecture is campus-wide as multiple collaborators joined together to sponsor this exciting event.”

Hayes is the author of “Insomniac City,” a 2017 critically praised memoir about his life in New York with his late partner, famed author and neurologist Oliver Sacks, M.D.

In this special event, Hayes, a Guggenheim fellow, author of four books and a frequent contributor to The New York Times, will reflect on his life with Sacks and discuss the doctor’s legacy as well as provide insights into his own work, including a preview of his forthcoming volume of street photography.

Tickets are $20 for members or nonmembers. For more information, contact the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at 561-799-8547 or visit www.fau.edu/osherjupiter.
