A Welcome To All  FAU Students

Going green is much more than a fad, or even for that matter a trend that many are finding quite sexy. It’s a calling on behalf of societies around the world to act on our long-term negligence to our planet. Time and time again I reiterate the saying, “this is NOT a special-interest organization, this is an interest that pertains to any and all that live on Earth.” Countries, more than ever, are coming together to help solve the crisis of climate change, an issue that is ever-imposing on our own existence.

The Mission Green Student Association works to promote and establish a positive and interactive GREEN environment both on-campus and in the surrounding communities. I am thoroughly excited to inform you of this:  with the professional executive team that has developed (all students) and the close connections we have developed with our schools administration, it is no wonder that this organization is bound to do great things not just in Boca Raton, but at all of the other FAU campuses on the East Coast.

Many of you are wondering, “what is a carbon foot-print”, or even more popular, “why should I care about being more efficient with energy or more concerned about recycling?”. These are great questions, ones that most students are appropriately allowed to ask. As the saying goes, no question is a dumb question unless the question is not asked. So I encourage you, ask questions, get involved, and help make a difference on your campus, as cliché as that may sound. The important thing to remember is at the end of the day, when all is said and done with our daily activities, our habitat (our home) is all that we have. In the case we don’t care, or as we have been, blatantly neglected our delicate eco-systems, air, and water supplies, then we are the ones that will be faced with this century’s single most important problem.

Just remember that in order to make something happen you have to first believe in it. Care about yourself, care about the environment, make the shift much needed in our world to be green.
