FAU to Host Green Fest 2011
Festivities to Promote Campus Sustainability Day
BOCA RATON, FL (November 8, 2011) – Florida Atlantic University's Mission Green will host Green Fest on Wednesday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the FAU Breezeway, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The event's theme, "Wear Green, Think Green, Be Green," will feature displays and activities to promote the University's fifth annual Campus Sustainability Day.
Festivities to take place in the "Greenway" (Breezeway) will include displays by more than 40 local companies, such as Office Depot, Home Depot, Sprint, Chartwells, Fresh Market and Tri-Rail, showcasing environmentally friendly products and practices; locally grown fresh produce for sale; plastic water bottle exchange for reusable Mission Green bottles; lots of "green" ideas for home and office; healthy eating workshops and gardening tips presented by urban farmer Jessica Padron at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; market bag-making from used FAU T-shirts; a recycling station; a chance to win raffles and prizes; information on FAU's future community garden; as well as games and other activities sponsored by FAU's Mission Green Student Association.
