FAU Calendar of Events for the Week of October 31, 2011

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (October 31, 2011) – Florida Atlantic University will host the following events:


FAU’s Florida Public Archaeology Network to Open Exhibit


“Then and Now: Life Along the New River” exhibit will open on Wednesday, November 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Second Ave Studio, 220 SE Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale campus. For more information, visit www.flpublicarchaeology.org/serc/.
The Florida Public Archaeology Network’s Southeast Region, based on FAU’s Fort Lauderdale campus within the department of anthropology, is hosting an exhibit to commemorate Fort Lauderdale’s 100th anniversary through Friday, December 16. The “Then & Now: Life along the New River” is a celebration of Fort Lauderdale’s rich past told through the stories of those who lived along the banks of New River. The public is invited to visit the exhibit to learn how the New River has shaped the cultures and communities of Fort Lauderdale.

 


 
  FAU’s Florida Public Archaeology Network to Host Run/Walk


“Dash through the Past” run/walk will take place on Saturday, November 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Second Ave Studio, 220 SE Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale campus.  For more information, contact Sarah Nohe at snohe@fau.edu or visit www.flpublicarchaeology.org/serc/.
The Florida Public Archaeology Network’s Southeast Region, based on FAU’s Fort Lauderdale campus within the department of anthropology, is hosting a run/walk to commemorate Fort Lauderdale’s 100th anniversary. Come dash through Fort Lauderdale’s rich history, stopping to complete photo challenges along the Riverwalk. Teams of two or more will complete a 2.5 mile course for great prizes. The $15 registration is limited to 100 people and includes a reusable aluminum water bottle.
