FAU Thanks Sponsors Contributing to ‘50 on the 50’ Anniversary Gala

BOCA RATON, FL (October 26, 2011) – As part of its year-long 50th anniversary celebration, Florida Atlantic University will host “50 on the 50,” a gala event to be held Saturday, October 29, with proceeds benefitting the President’s Scholarship Fund. To date, FAU has secured more than 80 sponsors for the gala, including international corporations, local businesses, alumni and friends of FAU.

“The ‘50 on the 50’ will be an event unlike any other, and we are extremely grateful to our many wonderful sponsors for their support,” said FAU President Mary Jane Saunders. “ From its earliest days, FAU has had dedicated friends in the community who have enabled the University to grow, and once again, our friends have come forward in support of our anniversary celebration, to help us raise funds for student scholarships.”

The black-tie gala event will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Martin F. & Jane Greenberg Foundation Tower at FAU’s new on-campus football stadium in Boca Raton. The event will span three levels of the tower and plaza, with each level featuring a unique theme. Tickets are still available for $250 per person.

One of Florida’s 11 public universities, FAU dates its origin to 1961, when the legislature allocated $100,000 to establish the fifth institution in the State University System in Boca Raton. FAU opened its doors to a charter enrollment of 867 students in the fall of 1964. Today, FAU is serving more than 29,000 undergraduate and graduate students on seven campuses and sites ranging along 100 miles of Florida’s southeast coast, from Dania Beach to Fort Pierce.
