Wells Fargo Signs on as President’s Level Sponsor for FAU’s 50th Anniversary Gala

BOCA RATON, FL (July 21, 2011) – As part of its year-long 50th anniversary celebration, Florida Atlantic University will host “50 on the 50,” a gala event to be held this fall, with proceeds benefitting student scholarships. Wells Fargo recently showed its support by becoming the first president’s level sponsor with a donation of $25,000.

“Our partnership with FAU has been an important one for us for many years, which is why we’re honored to be a sponsor of the University’s 50th anniversary gala celebration,” said Frank Newman, Wells Fargo’s regional president for Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast. “When we invest our resources in the communities where our customers and team members live and work – whether it’s donating books to classrooms or building a Habitat for Humanity home – we’re helping generations for years to come.”

The black-tie event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29 in FAU’s new on-campus football stadium in Boca Raton. Sponsorships are available at the $2,500, $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000 levels. Additionally, patrons may purchase advertising space in the commemorative program.

“The ‘50 on the 50’ gala is a wonderful opportunity for our friends in the local community to play an important role in the University’s golden anniversary celebration,” said Randy Talbot, senior vice president of University Advancement. “On behalf of the 50th anniversary gala host committee, I thank our friends at Wells Fargo for this tremendous show of support.”

One of Florida’s 11 public universities, FAU dates its origin to 1961, when the legislature allocated $100,000 to establish the fifth institution in the State University System in Boca Raton. FAU opened its doors to a charter enrollment of 867 students in the fall of 1964. Today, FAU is serving 28,000 undergraduate and graduate students on seven campuses and sites ranging along 100 miles of Florida’s southeast coast, from Dania Beach to Fort Pierce.
