FAU’s Seventh Annual Shindig Raises Scholarship Funds and Honors ‘Wave Makers’
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (March 22, 2012) – The Broward Seaside Burrow, a chapter of Florida Atlantic University’s National Alumni Association, will host the seventh annual Shindig on Saturday, April 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at FAU’s Davie Campus. This upscale western-themed fundraiser is a catered event celebrating a commitment to higher education while recognizing the “Wave Makers” who have shown exceptional dedication to the University and its Broward campuses.
This year’s Wave Maker honorees are AutoNation, as the corporate partner; the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, as the community partner; and Sheriff Al Lamberti, as the Outstanding Alumnus. Additionally, the “Pearl of Broward” is a special award presented each year to an individual who has shown leadership, advocacy and support of FAU. This year, Marsha Levy will receive the prestigious award. P.J. Rossi Jewelers is the official “Pearl of Broward” designer and seven-time sponsor of the event. Additional sponsors include James B. Pirtle Construction Company, AutoNation, Broward College and Dirt Pros EVS.
Honorary Chair Howard Schnellenberger and event co-chairs Kathy Molinet ’95, ’04 and Sharon Ragoonan ’01, are pleased to spearhead this event, which raises money to support student scholarships, as well as alumni initiatives at FAU. Known for its casual atmosphere and sumptuous menu, the event has been a sellout since its inception. This success is due in large part to the sponsors and more than 200 top business and community leaders, FAU alumni and friends of the University who attend each year.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available, but sales are going fast. For more information about the seventh annual Shindig, contact the Office of Community Relations at 954-762-5300 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
