FAU’s Pine Jog Environmental Education Center to Host ‘Green Gala’
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (March 16, 2012) - Florida Atlantic University’s Pine Jog Environmental Education Center will present its annual fundraiser, the “Green Gala,” on Saturday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at the Pine Jog Environmental Center, 6301 Summit Blvd., West Palm Beach. This year’s gala celebrates the 50th anniversary of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, the classic that launched the environmental movement. Pine Jog serves more than 40,000 individuals yearly, and 60 percent of them are from culturally diverse and underserved populations. Proceeds from this event help to underwrite Pine Jog’s programs.
The gala will be held in Pine Jog’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)® Gold certified facility and includes dinner and dancing under the stars, and a silent and live auction, with Lou Galterio as the auctioneer. Pine Jog also will honor its annual Environmental Leadership awardees the night of the gala. Recipients include:
