FAU Financial Analyst Program Advances to State Finals for Third Consecutive Year
FAP’s Students to Compete Amongst Top Florida Universities
BOCA RATON, Fla. (February 4, 2013) – Students in the Financial Analyst Program (FAP) in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University have reached the state finals in the 2013 CFA Investment Research Challenge. FAU’s team will compete on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville where their final presentations will be evaluated by a high-profile panel consisting of chief investment officers, portfolio managers and research directors from the region's leading investment management firms.
In its three-year existence, the FAP is the only program of its kind in Florida, and was designed to equip students with financial analysis and equity research skills honed by developing financial models and conducting detailed investment research reports on South Florida-based public companies. The group also advanced to the state finals in 2011 during its inaugural year.
Conducted in the state-of-the art Trading Room located in the Office Depot Center for Executive Education at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, the Friday morning sessions provide students exposure to top investment professionals from equity research, investments and private equity. To date, individuals from firms such as JP Morgan Private Bank, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Former Goldman Sachs Executive, Noble Financial and Capital Markets have participated in the program.
“Once again, we have validated the need for this program and the talented students enrolled in it. This is a fantastic accomplishment for such a nascent program that is just 3 years old,” said Rainford Knight, Ph.D., founder of the FAP and professor of finance at FAU. “We will continue to build and expand this program into areas such as hedge funds, fixed income, private equity and venture capital The long-term vision is to make FAU’s College of Business a hub for finance talent.”
