FAU University Club Hosts Cafe Concert Fundraiser
BOCA RATON, FL (February 17, 2012) – The University Club of Florida Atlantic University recently hosted "Jazz from Harlem to Broadway," a cafe concert event to benefit student scholarships and FAU Libraries, in the Delray Acura Premier Club at FAU Stadium, Boca Raton campus.
The concert was performed by FAU's Klezmer Company Orchestra Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Maestro Aaron Kula, and joined by guest vocalist Daniel Cochran. The performance included works by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and George Gershwin. FAU benefactor Marleen Forkas served as honorary chair of the event.
"I'd like to thank everyone who attended our cafe concert fundraiser," said University Club President Alene Brewer. "The Klezmer Jazz Ensemble put on a wonderful show, and we enjoyed hosting this event to raise funds for student scholarships and FAU Libraries."
The University Club, founded in 1976, develops and implements fundraising projects and encourages its members to give of their time, talent and energy to help achieve the goals of Florida Atlantic University. The organization has contributed more than $400,000 to student scholarships and more than $500,000 to FAU Libraries.
