FAU Narrows Presidential Candidates To Three
BOCA RATON, FL (Jan. 24, 2003) -- The pool of candidates
for Florida Atlantic University's presidency was narrowed down
today from five to three after two days of interviews by the
presidential search committee.
"The candidates were exceptional," said Dr. George C. Zoley,
FAU Board of Trustees chairman and chairman of the presidential
search committee. "No matter who is selected next week, FAU will be
in good hands."

FAU Selects Top Five Presidential Candidates
BOCA RATON, FL (Jan. 21, 2003) -- The pool of candidates for
Florida Atlantic University's presidency was pared down today from
17 to five during a meeting of the presidential search committee.
"We have been very lucky," said Dr. George C. Zoley, FAU
Board of Trustees chairman and chairman of the presidential search
committee. "Many qualified individuals wanted the opportunity to
lead a top Florida university. It was difficult narrowing the pool

For The Study Of Neurological Disabilities
BOCA RATON, FL (Jan. 16, 2003) -- Florida Atlantic
University announced today a $500,000 gift to establish The Center
for the Study of Neurological Disabilities, a new state-of-the-art
resource center on FAU's Boca Raton campus.
Shawn Friedkin, president of Stand Among Friends, an
organization dedicated to support research, education, and advocacy
of neurological related disabilities, presented the gift to FAU

George C. Zoley Named Chairman Of The FAU Board
Of Trustees
BOCA RATON, FL (Jan. 16, 2003) -- The Florida Atlantic
University Board of Trustees met on Wednesday for the first time
after a constitutional amendment called for reorganization.
During the first meeting, Dr. George C. Zoley, an FAU
alumnus, was elected chairman, and Sherry Plymale was elected to
the vice chair position. Zoley is chairman and CEO of Wackenhut
Corrections Corporation and a member of FAU's Foundation Board of
Directors. Zoley is also the chair of FAU's Presidential Search
Committee. Plymale is past chair of the State Board of Community
Colleges and former chief of staff of the Florida Education
Commissioner.
